Atlanta Braves take on the Cincinnati Reds in a three-game series at Truist Park
Braves win 5-3 in series opener
The Atlanta Braves opened their three-game series with the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night with a 5-3 victory at Truist Park. The Braves jumped out to an early lead with a two-run home run by Matt Olson in the first inning. The Reds answered back with two runs of their own in the third inning. The Braves regained the lead in the fourth inning with a solo home run by Austin Riley. The Reds tied the game in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly by Kyle Farmer. The Braves took the lead for good in the sixth inning with a two-run single by Dansby Swanson.
The Braves' bullpen was solid in relief of starter Kyle Wright. A.J. Minter, Jesse Chavez, and Kenley Jansen combined to allow just one hit and one walk over the final four innings of the game. Jansen picked up his 10th save of the season with a perfect ninth inning.
The Braves will look to take the series from the Reds on Tuesday night. Ian Anderson will start for the Braves, while Luis Castillo will start for the Reds.
