Republican presidential nominee talked about his political campaign with billionaire ally Elon Musk
The interview on Musk's social media platform was supposed to start at 9 p.m. ET on Monday, but it was delayed for more than 40 minutes due to what Musk said was a distributed denial-of-service attack in which a server or network is flooded with so much traffic that it becomes unavailable.
Once the interview finally got underway, Trump and Musk discussed a wide range of topics, including the former president's political campaign, the economy, and the future of social media.
Trump said he is "very happy" with the way his campaign is going and that he is confident he will win the Republican nomination and the general election.
"We have a lot of momentum," Trump said. "The people are tired of the Biden administration and they want change."
Musk said he is "excited" to see Trump running for president again.
"I think he's a great leader," Musk said. "He's not afraid to speak his mind and he's always putting America first."
The two men also discussed the economy, with Trump saying he is focused on creating jobs and reducing inflation.
"We need to get our economy back on track," Trump said. "We need to make America great again."
Musk said he agrees with Trump's economic policies.
