Gunners demolish German champions 4-1 at the Emirates
Trossard, Nwaneri, Jesus and Saka on target as Arsenal impress
Arsenal secured a thumping 4-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in their penultimate pre-season friendly of the summer at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Leandro Trossard opened the scoring for the Gunners in the 23rd minute with a right-footed shot from the centre of the box. Ethan Nwaneri doubled the lead just seven minutes later with a close-range finish.
Gabriel Jesus made it 3-0 in the 37th minute with a header from a corner, before Bukayo Saka completed the scoring in the 88th minute with a left-footed shot from outside the box.
Bayer Leverkusen pulled a goal back through Kai Havertz in the 78th minute, but it was nothing more than a consolation as Arsenal ran out comfortable winners.
The victory will give Arsenal a huge boost ahead of their opening Premier League game of the season against Crystal Palace on Friday 11th August. Mikel Arteta's side will be looking to build on their strong pre-season form and make a positive start to the new campaign.
