Pennsylvania, officially known as the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, is a landlocked state located in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern Appalachian regions of the United States. It is the fifth-most populous state, with over 13 million residents as of the 2020 census.
Geography
Pennsylvania has an area of 119,283 square kilometers (46,055 square miles), making it the 33rd largest state in the country. It is approximately rectangular in shape and borders New York to the north, New Jersey and Delaware to the east, Maryland and West Virginia to the south, and Ohio to the west. The state is located on the eastern banks of the Appalachian Mountains.
