Assassination Attempt at Trump Rally; DNC Announces 2024 Party Platform Draft

Former President Donald J. Trump was the target of an assassination attempt during a rally in Butler, PA on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred as Trump was addressing a crowd of supporters when shots were fired toward the stage. No injuries were reported, and Trump was quickly evacuated from the scene.
The FBI is investigating the incident as an assassination attempt and has identified the suspect as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, PA. Crooks is currently in custody.
In a statement, the DNC announced that it is strongly condemning the attack on former President Trump. The party also announced that it will be releasing a draft of its 2024 platform later this year, which will include measures to address political violence.
